Since last Friday's trip, the fish has slowed down. Today we ended up with 8 fish for 10 anglers on the morning trip and 9 fish for 6 anglers in the afternoon. Still fishing up north on the Ten Mile beach in about 80 ft of water. Eric Haapanen from Ft Bragg (left picture) had 30 pounds of fish to take home. Nice job Eric!! Fish-On!

Had another bachelor party today. The fish down south moved out so we went back up north to try our luck. It paid off. We fished north of the Cleone reef about 6 miles north of the buoy between 100 and 220 ft of water. Had some nice luck! 1 fish shy of limits for 13 anglers. Biggest fish of the year landed today. 37 pounds!! Good time was had by all! Fish-On!

Fishing still great! Still fishing just south of the whistle buoy in 220 ft of water. Ocean still flat. Mike Piper from Grass Valley brought in over 40 pounds of salmon on this fine day. He was fishing with a green and white hoochie with a anchovy with no flasher at 35 pulls with a 2 pound lead. Now there's a happy fisherman! We ended up with limits of salmon for 12 anglers.

Fishing report--averaged a fish per rod since my last report. Today we finally got some fish to bite south. I got a tip on the way out this morning that there was a pretty good bite just south of the whistle in about 240 ft of water. Anything purple is what the fish were looking for. We ended up coming in a little bit early with limits for 16 fishermen. Richard Sams group from Ukiah. They all went home with some pretty good bags of fish. Biggest one was 30 lbs caught by Jason Halas from Ukiah. Jeff Dirickson from Parsons Tn had the second runner up with a nice salmon weighing in at 23 lbs. Richard Sams came in next with a 22.5 lb salmon. The ocean was flat and the winds were calm. Nice day to be out on the ocean.

Morning bite was kind of off but the afternoon fish seemed to have a heck of an appetite!! Limits for 14 anglers with some nice big ones as well. Only had to go about 2 miles north of the whistle buoy in about 200 ft of water. Had great action on the bow rods. John Miller from Sunnyvale was working the bow rods. A green salmon rotary killer was hard to keep in the water. Catch-On!!

July 11th, 2004

Slowed down the last couple of days, but starting to pick up again. There was a hot bite down south, but we stayed up north because we were catching some nice fish. I couldn't leave big fish. Turned out, the south bite didn't last long. The boats that picked up and ran down did good. We stayed up north about 5 miles in about 75 to 130 ft of water. The ocean laid down real nice. Course if you asked the fishermen today, they might tell you different. Nevertheless, we ended up with fish on the table. Ended up with about a fish per rod with a couple of 21 pounders landed by Kent Rogers from Willits and the other one landed by senior deckhand Sid Larkin. The big catch of the day goes to Jim Schnitzius from Willits weighing in at a whopping 33 pounds. Had some good action on a red rotary killer. Forecast is to lay down real nice. Fish-On!

1st week of July report

Fish really started to bite by the 4th. Ended up with limits for 15 anglers on the 4th of July. What a bang! Mostly smaller fish, but lots of action. By the 7th, we started to land some bigger ones. Picture; On the right is Naomi Christensen holding up her beautiful catch weighing in at 28 pounds. On the left is Richard Bartholf from Ukiah showing off the big catch of the day weighing in at 36 lbs. Afternoon bite was great as well landing at the dock with limits for 12 anglers. Not quite as big in the afternoon though. Biggest one weighed in at 18 pounds caught by Dan Christensen from Princeton Ca. Nice job by everyone!!
