Weekend Fishing Report
Fishing was much better than last Memorial weekend. Caught between 1 and 1 1/2 fish per angler! On Sunday, we did a crab combo trip. 4 1/2 crabs per person, plus over a salmon around. Good fishing. Big fish for Saturday; 20lbs caught by Eric Corry from Eldorado Hills, runner up, 19lbs caught by Dennis Pooler from Gridely. Sat and Sunday we fished from 1 to 4 miles north of the whistle buoy in about 200 ft of water. Fished up high. Most of our fish were caught from 15 to 25 pulls with a 2lb lead. On Memorial Day, we fished a bit farther north of that. Same depth of water. Hot item for the weekend was a green salmon rotary killer at 20 pulls. Picture; Davie Pina from Napa showing off his 24 lb king. Best fight I've seen in a while. Took about 25 minutes to land this strong king. I'll bet it seemed like a lot longer to Davie. Good job by all,
"Fish-On!!!"

Lots of action today. 2 fish short of limits for 4 anglers. We lost probably at least a dozen fish just by coming unhooked, and fed at least 3 salmon to the sealions. No crabbing today. Just about done with the crabs for the season. Maybe one or two more trips and we'll rap it up for the crabbing. It's time to concentrate on the salmon. Today we fished only about 1 mile northwest of the whistle buoy in about 250 ft of water. Nice grade of fish. Biggest one was caught by regular Bob Ruddock weighing in at 28 pounds!! I just happened to capture some of the battle on disc. Check it out. Fish-On!!!

Fish are still biting! Did a repeat of the last couple of days. Less people though. Crabbed at Pudding Creek, and fished right outside of Pudding Creek in about 250 ft of water. Ended up with 5 fish for 4 anglers. We had our share of chances to land limits. Can't land them all. Everyone still landed a fish. Got a couple of crabs apiece too. Wayne Kelly from Folsom landed the big one of the day weighing in at 19 lbs. Nice job Wayne.

Fishing is good, catching is great!! It's about time. We concentrated on the salmon today. Did crabbing as well, but worked for the fish. We crabbed at Pudding Creek and didn't do so well. Ended up with 2 crabs per person. The salmon on the other hand, well I think the picture speaks for itself. Ended up with 11 salmon for 8 anglers. Fished about 2 miles northwest of the whistle buoy in 280 ft of water. Most of our action came on shallow lines with a pink hoochie over an anchovy behind a flasher. 8 of our 11 salmon were over 14 pounds. Most of the action came early in the trip. Fish-On!!!
Picture from left to right; 1st mate Kris Grafft, Luis Hernandez from Napa-13lbs,
Annie Robertson from Ft Bragg-15lbs, Kurk Brainerd and his two sons Chris and
Drew from Placerville-15, 22, and 16lbs, Zak Parsons from Little River- 15lbs,
and in the back right is Tim McDermott form Dunsmuir holding a nice 15 pound
king salmon. Great job everyone!!!

Finally! Got some salmon to show up today. Scored 5 nice salmon for 3 anglers. Also got limits of crabs!! First good trip of the year. Fished north of the buoy about a mile and a half in about 240 ft of water. Fish were up high. 25 pulls with a 2lb lead. Nice grade too! The crabs are still holding up as well. I would expect the crabs to turn soft anytime. They haven't yet, but I think soon. I think it's time to catch some salmon!!
From left to right; Earl Macomber from Sun
Valley Nv 19 lbs, Janet Avers and Barry Avers from Grass Valley Ca. Janet is
showing off some nice Dungeness crabs, while Barry is showing off a nice pair
of 19 pounders.
