August 23rd, 2005--Went out fishing for fun today. Had excellent action. Fished right out front about 200 yards NW of the whistle buoy. Took about 30 minutes and we went in for breakfast. Bruce Goddard beat me out of the big fish pot by a tenth of a pound. I guess he's buying breakfast! Fish are still biting!!

8/20/05--a.m. Salmon are still hungry. Ended up with 31 salmon for 18 anglers. Not quite limits, but everybody landed one. This family is showing off their catch with big smiles. Not a bad day to be on the water.

Fish-On!!!!

8/11/05 p.m.

Ocean is nice, the fog burned off (first time in a couple of weeks) and we're not the only ones looking for salmon. The seal lions are out this afternoon. We lost 5 fish to seal lions. Ended up with over one around of nice fish. Chrome spoon with pearlesence was working this afternoon. Also anything with watermelon on it worked as well. Fished straight out in front in about 300 ft of water. Landed some nice grade this afternoon. Picture from left to right; Susan Schulz from Hemet Ca-25lbs, Bill Courtney from Elk with a 24 and 26 pound king salmon, and Chuck Crist from Modesto Ca with a 20.1 pound king. Fun was had by all.

08/11/05 a.m. trip

Fishing picked back up again. Wide open bite this morning! We took out a wedding party that were a little sluggish getting up this morning. I knew I had to make up for loss time so I put the coal to the motor. Actually I had a lot of help from the fish. Everything we put in the water was catching. Ended up with limits for 14 anglers and made it back to the dock on time. At one point we had 9 fish on at one time. Now that's some action. We would have been done sooner if the seal lions wouldn't have taken a couple. Oh-well, we all have to eat. Biggest one was 28 pounds caught by Patrick Martin from Reno Nv. Second runner up was a nice 25 pounder caught by Paul Schuermann from Cincinnati, Oh! Nice job guys. Salmon for dinner!!

Went rockfishing today. A bit slow on the school fish but the lings were biting pretty good. I think most were fishing below the school fish and trying for some lings. Ended up 6 lings for the boat with the biggest one weighing in at 21 pounds caught by regular Bruce Goddard from Mendocino.

Fishing slowed a bit today but we still had action. The ocean was not quite as calm either. Ended up with 7 fish for 18 anglers but had some real nice ones. Tom Jordan from Martinez is showing off his nice catch with his grandson Christopher Jordan from Napa. They caught their fish on a watermelon spoon and a mackerel spoon fishing on the downriggers at 30 ft. We were fishing southwest of the whistle buoy in about 350 ft of water. Not a bad catch!!

August 4th, 2005

If we were to only have one day this year with a wide open bite, this was the day. We were back at the dock at 9:40 with 37 salmon!! Beautiful grade of fish. Most of them from 15 to 23 pounds. By the time we put our 2nd rod in the water the action began. We never had all the lines in the water once for the entire trip. We usually had 4 or 5 fish behind the boat being battled by excited anglers with 4 or 5 fish on the deck being marked and put in the fish box. What a day to be on the water. The ocean was flat calm with a little fog and no wind. We were fishing a couple miles south of the Whistle buoy in about 350 ft of water. I would tell you about the hot lures, but everything we threw at them was eaten up!! Biggest few on the boat for the day were as follows; Bob Ruddock/Lakeport-20lbs, Mick Starnater/Hemet-20lbs, Kyle Pierce/Point Arena-20lbs, and the big fish go to Jim Seagers from Roseville Ca with a 23 pound King!!!! Great trip!! "Fish-on!"
