November 5th, 2005-- Weather turned out better than the forecast. Big swell but no wind. Great day on the water. Even with a big swell we had some good action on the ling cod!! Had 3/4 limits of rockfish and over a ling apiece. The two biggest lings weighed in at 18 pounds each!! One was caught by regular Bruce Goddard from Mendocino and the other was landed by local Richard Marino. We fished north 4 miles off of Virgin Creek in 80 ft of water. Still fishing with light tackle. Had a nice grade of blue rockfish too. Picture from left to right; Richard Marino from Ft. Bragg, Dale and Bernice Abono from Covelo, Nick and Scott Lewis from Kelsyville, Andrew Cross also from Kelsyville, and regular Bruce Goddard from Mendocino. Way to go everyone!!

11/10/05--Went out with a light load taday. Weather turned out to be beautiful. About a 10 foot swell, but that didn't keep the fish from biting. Fished north 3 miles off of Glass Beach in 80 ft of water. Fished with some light tackle and some medium tackle. Scored limits of rockfish and limits of ling cod!! All of our lings were caught on the "Ling-n-ator". If you are interested in what a "Ling-n-ator" is, come on out with us and we'll show it to you. Picture; Michelle Martin and her father Vince, from Reno Nv are showing off their catch of lings! Biggest one weighed in at 17 pounds. Next runner up was 14 pounds. Nice Job. My dog Beatrice was there for moral support. Everybody has fun on the "Telstar*"!!

We canceled yesterday's trip due to big swell, but today we managed to make it out. Fished north 5 miles in 80 ft of water. Had about a 10 ft swell but the winds were light and overall, it was a nice day on the ocean. Ended up with 1/2 limits of rockfish and over a ling around. Nothing real big, but, lings nevertheless! Picture from left to right; Maurice Spicer from Walnut Creek, Monica Gadda also from Walnut Creek with a nice ling and a 6 pound Vermillion, Daniel Renninger from Middletown with the biggest ling weighing in at 12 pounds, and his brother Zak Renninger holding one of his prize catches of the day. Fish-On!!

Ocean laid down real nice. 6' swell with light winds and lots of sun! Fish were a bit picky today. Couldn't hardly find a fish until towards the end of the trip. We managed to score limits of rockfish, but only one lingcod. Nice grade of rockfish though. Rip-a-lip!!

Ocean still beautiful! Fished south below the Pt Cabrillo lighthouse in 40-80' of water. Found some great fishing today. Ended up limits for 8 anglers and 10 lings! Nothing real big on the lings, but we had some big ones on that didn't make it to the boat. I guess that's how they get to be big. Most of them that we landed were between 8 and 12 pounds. Beautiful grade of rockfish. Some real nice reds too! Yhaaaaww!!!

Can't believe it's the later part of November. Weather is very nice. Sun shining, winds are light and the fish are biting!! Limits of rockfish and limits of lingcod!! Beautiful grade of rockfish with a few nice reds. The lings were mostly from 9 to 12 pounds. 14 lings in all. Fished north about 2.5 miles in 80 ft of water. Ling-n-ator was the hot ticket for the lings! The couple in the back had the nicest catch with a couple of nice reds with a 13 pound ling cod(caught by Nera Martinez) and a 12 pound ling(caught by Brian Crawford) both from Redding Ca. Another fun trip aboard the Telstar*!!

Fished the same area, north about 3 miles in 80 ft of water. Ocean conditions still holding. The fog moved in though. Fishing wasn't quite as good. Ended up with 3/4 limits of rockfish for 8 anglers and 13 lings. Still nothing big in the ling department but nice just the same. Had a real nice variety of rockfish with several nice reds. Fun was had by all, but I think the picture tells it all!! Fish-On!!

Had a group of great people on board today. Fished 6 miles south just below the lighthouse in 70 ft of water. Fog was thick but we managed to find a little spot with some sun shinning. The blues were hungry! Had limits for 15 anglers by 9:15. Spent the rest of the trip trying to catch some lingcod. Ended up with a 1/2 dozen lings. Biggest was 11 pounds caught by Erin Deacon from Davis Ca. Vincent Higgins had a beautiful Vermillion rockfish weiging in at about 6 pounds. Everybody had a blast!!! Yhaaawwww!

Have to give today's report because it's worth mentioning. Limits of rockfish and limits of lingcod for 17 anglers!!! The ocean was flat with some light winds out of the north. Didn't find any sun today. Had 3 or 4 lings on most of the time. The crew was hopping today with the gaff. Had a nice grade of rockfish with several nice reds and a couple of 6 pound Cabazone's. Biggest ling was about 14 pounds. Picture shows just a few of the happy anglers that were aboard today. Today we fished south again where we were on Monday. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

November 26th and 27th, 2005

Opening weekend for sport crabbing. It was a successful weekend. The forecast was not in our favor, but the weather and the fishing was!! Saturday was a little bit rough but most of the customers handled it quite well. We crabbed north 6 miles on Ten Mile Beach in about 70 ft of water. I was a bit worried about the 10 ft swell, but it didn't hurt us at all. Ended up with about 7 crabs per pot (not bad for a 10 ft swell). Went up north another 4 miles and fished for rockfish while our crab pots soaked. The rockfish were hungry. Ended up with limits of rockfish for 26 anglers and a couple of ling cod. The wind was blowing about 20 knots and the drift was rather fast so we couldn't really fish the bottom very much. Thank goodness the rockfish were hungry. Nice grade of blues and blacks. Sunday was a repeat except the weather was considerably better. No wind and the swell came down and the sun was shinning!!! Didn't quite have limits of rockfish, but pretty close and ended up with 1/2 dozen lings. Limits of crabs for everybody on both days. On Sunday, we had about 17 crabs per pot!! More crabs than people. We threw back at least a hundred keepers. I would have to say that most of what we kept was commercial grade! Picture;a typical crab pot on Sunday!!
