Had 14 anglers on board today. 9 of them were interested in adding some crab to that as well. At first we went up north by our crab pots and fished for salmon with not much action. Bait looked good but nothing was interested in what we had to offer. I gave the 5 minute warning to go pull our crab pots and next thing you know, “Fish On!!” Then I heard “we have a double”. It turned into a triple of nice fish. We lost two and boated one. After many passes through the same spot, nothing. So we pulled 20 pots and scored 90 jumbo crabs without much effort and headed south to fish for about half an hour by the buoy before heading in. After about 10 minutes of fishing time, “fish on!”. Then, “we’ve got a double!” Landed them both!! Ended up with 3 salmon (biggest one weighing in at 14 lbs) caught by Ron Comstock out of Auburn Ca. Thursday, April 21st, 2011Today is Jacqui Johnson’s birthday! What she wanted for her present was to go spend the day on the ocean and have her try at catching a salmon. Telstar* left the dock at noon and headed up to the crabbing grounds where we did our usual score of limits of nice big crabs. It took 15 pots to get the 70 crabs. A bit slower than the last couple of days, but certainly nothing to complain about. Then we headed back down towards the whistle buoy where I received a report of a couple of private boats that scored limits in the morning. The bait was there, and there was no lack of bird life, but the fish weren’t very hungry. However, the birthday girl was under the spotlight today. She ended up landing a nice one (only one on) weighing in at 12 pounds. A couple of other bites was the only other action we had. Happy birthday Jacqui!! Fish-On,

Tuesday, April 19th, 2011Telstar* went crabbing this morning with a family of 6. We left the dock shortly after 7:00 a.m. and reached the crabbing grounds around 45 minutes later on 10 mile beach where we set our pots yesterday afternoon. The ocean is flat and the sun is trying to break through the fog. We come up on our first pot in 30 ft of water. 9 keepers!! we pulled 17 pots to get 90 crabs for the total of 9 anglers on board. Back to the dock at 10:00 with the water boiling and waiting for the crabs to take the plunge. Fish-On!
