Friday June 28th, 2013– The salmon were right out in front of Noyo Harbor today. We trolled our usual arsenal of assorted hoochie’s and rotary killer’s and such the like. The one with the most activity was a j-71 hoochie over a cut anchovy behind a flasher 45 ft down with a 2lb ball. A hot pink hoochie was the runner up. We had a hard time keeping them in the water. The j-71 was hot through the next trip as well. I put the same exact set-up on the bow downrigger and put it at the same depth, and nothing. The next trip, the bow rod was the first to go off. It still didn’t land a fish until today. More on that later. We fished in 270 to 300 ft of water. Our final score was 9 salmon for 17 anglers. Nice grade too. We had 5 fish over 20 lbs! Big fish for the day are ; 20lbs caught by Josh L. out of Cloverdale. 21lbs caught by Ray Hayes from Menlo Park, 2-24lb landed by Brandon Austin out of Ukiah and Rob from Windsor, but the money fish was landed by Matt Masciovini. Good job guy’s.    Fish-On!

We caught some salmon this morning. The ocean was flat and there is lots of bait and birds working. We went straight out to about 330 ft of water. Had lots of action. We released a few silvers and had some shorts but we ended up with 8 fish to 30lbs. Picture (left) Pete Dittmer from Forest Hill with a 30 and a 16 pound kings! (right) Pat Pictor from Ukiah with a 25lb king!

June 19th, 2013–Rockfishing down south again. The salmon(brown) water moved in all the way to the beach. The rockfish don’t like to bite in the brown water typically. Today was not as good as yesterday, but with a little more work, we ended up with nice bags of fish. We had several nice reds and some big lings too. Biggest ling was 17lb 6oz caught by Briana Dutcher from Lake County. Her sister, Lindsey, also got a nice one weighing in at 13 lbs. Their family of 5 were 2 fish shy of limits of rockfish and they had 5 lings. Nice job! We fished
just north of Pt. Cabrillio Lighthouse in about 80 ft of water. Still nice weather. Fish-On!

Salmon are here!!
Tuesday, June 18th, 20136/17/13–No picture to show off with but let me tell you, there were some salmon caught today. I took the day off to do some maintenance on the boat. But yesterday afternoon Kevin on the F/V Ambush went out in the afternoon and came back early with limits for 4 customers. He said the brown water had moved in along with lots of bait and birds. He was right! This morning I started hearing reports and I liked what I was hearing. So this evening I had to take my family out and see if we could get a taste of the action. It was happening alright. Nice brown water, birds all over the place pounding the water. We even saw several fish jump clean out of the water. I hooked the first fish on my rod. I was fishing with a green spoon down 18 ft on the downrigger. Nice fish. It took almost 20 minutes to get it in. Of coarse I was fishing with 15 lb test line on a G-Loomis bait casting rod. What a blast. That fish weighed in at 26.5 lbs. We also had 2 other fish on at the same time. Unfortunately they came off. But not much longer and I had another fish on my rod. It was smaller but still a nice fish. My youngest son, Garrett, ended up landing one on my rod and it topped my fish by 1/2 pound. We ended up with a total of 5 fish. Guess what’s for dinner at my house! We were fishing straight out in 330 ft of water. On top of all of that, the ocean was flat and no wind! Good day to be on the water! Lets hope they stick around for awhile. From the looks of the water, I think they will. Fish-On!!

Limits of Lingcod!!
Tuesday, June 18th, 2013
June 16, 2013–Telstar* went down south below Pt. Cabrillio lighthouse looking for some hungry rockfish and lingcod. We found just that. We didn’t get limits of rockfish but I think we had 8 or 9 fish average for 20 anglers. The real story was the lingcod. We ended up with limits (40) of lingcod!! I think the only reason we didn’t have limits of rockfish was because we couldn’t keep the lings off our hooks. Nice bags of fish. Biggest ling was about 12 lbs. caught by Ted Peterson out of Potter Valley. Fish-On!

6/14/13 Salmon report
Friday, June 14th, 2013
Today was the first day we got out all the week because of the winds. The ocean was a bit choppy, but the winds stayed offshore. After several days of wind, the ocean is all mixed up. I was hoping it was going to bring some fish in. Well, if it did, they are not hungry. We hooked into this nice 21 lb fish early in the trip. Susan Shuster from Lassen County did a great job playing this fish. We were fishing north about 5 miles in 190 ft of water. We ended having another fish on towards the end of the trip but it got away. It was a nice fish too. That was the extent of our action today. One of these days, we’re going to have some hot action. Tomorrow just might be the day. Fish-On!
